Family Awards was officially established in 2004, though the idea has been in development for several years. Its purpose is to honor men and women who are dedicated to being good parents in order to bring more dignity and respect into the role of parenting in life.
Our Mission
When we consider our mission accomplished, we will have brought many millions of people all over the world a moment of joy by helping them realize that they are honored and respected by a large community that includes their children and their peers- people who aspire to be like them or to have shared life with someone like them. It’s the same feeling people are after when they search for fame or fortune, but no other pursuit can offer such profound satisfaction.
In the process of accomplishing our mission we hope to raise money for charities that share our desire to encourage dedicated and proud parenting. You can read more about our monetary goals by visiting the Charity page.
Some Background
The founders were inspired by their parents who, despite numerous hardships and sacrifices, are now celebrating their 35th year of marriage, and their children’s successes as a doctor and an Ivy League graduate are a credit to their hard work.
Their parents’ story inspired the founders to learn about other people’s parents. They found shining examples everywhere of parents who had broken cycles of abuse, neglect or selfishness to give their children what they never had, or parents who mirrored what their parents gave to them in order to give their children a home of love and peace.
Hearing these anecdotes from friends were so inspiring, but pop culture was glossing over such stories and glamorizing vanity and a lack of responsibility. People everywhere were being rewarded for empty achievements (eating a pile of worms, enticing a stranger) while the heart and soul of humanity was being glossed over as “traditional values” (read: boring).
Reading the names and stories on this website you will see that raising a family and caring for them is anything but boring. And unlike winning any other praise, being honored as a parent by your child will bring you a lifetime of satisfaction.
